Start with the reader’s needs
Our intended editorial approach begins with the home, the use case and the reader’s constraints: space, installation, budget, connectivity and maintenance.
Research-based guides
Research-based analysis can use manufacturer specifications, manuals, current retailer information and relevant reliable sources. Each guide should cite its important evidence and explain uncertainty.
Firsthand testing
Claim hands-on testing only when it actually occurred. A tested review should explain the product, conditions, duration, observations and limitations, with original evidence where available. AI-created images are not testing evidence.
Comparison criteria
- Suitability for the stated use case
- Installation and compatibility
- Useful features and significant limitations
- Subscriptions, maintenance and total cost
- Privacy and safety considerations when relevant
Authorship
Published articles identify their actual authors. Fictional editorial characters do not receive author credit or expert credentials.
Updates and corrections
Important changes should be reflected in the affected guide. Dates should reflect meaningful review or changes, not imply testing that did not happen. Readers can report concerns through our contact page.
Commercial transparency
Affiliate relationships and other material connections should be clearly disclosed where relevant.
